Tribal Utility General Manager, Pechanga Western Electric

Pi-Ta Pitt is the General Manager of Pechanga Western Electric which serves residential, governmental, and commercial customers on the Pechanga Indian Reservation.  Pechanga Western Electric is the first Tribal Electric Utility in the State of California and has been providing cost effective power to the Pechanga community since 2017. Pi-Ta oversees the daily operations of Pechanga Western Electric as well as the output of the Pechanga Band’s onsite power generation, Hoover Dam hydropower imports, hydropower imports from the Parker Davis Dam in the Desert Southwest.

Pi-Ta has previous professional experience working for his Tribe at Warm Springs Power and Water Enterprises, which owns and operates an 18 mw hydroelectric facility on the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs Indian Reservation in Oregon. There he received valuable experience and a pathway into the Energy Industry.  Through an Intergovernmental Personal Agreement Pi-Ta was able to work at Bonneville Power Administration and rotate through the Day Ahead Trading, Pre-Schedule, Risk, and Short-Term Planning groups to learn from seasoned energy professionals.  He holds an Associates of Arts Degree from Portland Community College and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from Columbia University in the City of New York.
